How I Work

Complimentary Consultation

It is always good to meet someone before committing to a working relationship, whether it is in person or by phone.  When you are entrusting your visions and ideas with someone, you need to feel confident and comfortable. I like to begin with a 20-minute complimentary consultation to learn about your project and particular needs, along with how I can best help. Before we meet, I suggest filling out the Project Questionnaire. This helps focus our time and make the most out of those first 20 minutes.

Beginning a Project

Once you decide WordTurners is the right place to help you accomplish your writing project, we will discuss your hopes and expectations for the project. I will then develop a plan of action with you including best methods of communication, estimates of time, cost, and completion dates.

Contracts

Drawing up a contract takes the guessing or uncertainty out of our working relationship. It provides you with a document outlining what services you are receiving, what you can expect, and what service would require additional charges.  It provides me with clear direction so that I may provide you with the professional service you deserve. Our contract will include a statement of expectations, timelines, due dates, cost, scope of revisions, limitations of service, and anything else we decide is relevant. Contracts can be drawn for single projects or ongoing relationships that involve multiple and varied assignments.

Cost and Payment schedules

Our final exchange: you receive the writing, editing, or coaching that you sought, exceeding your expectations, and I receive payment for doing what I love. The project will determine cost based on its type, size, scope, and/or time involvement. For small or simple projects that take less than a week to accomplish, payment is due once the project is complete and you have received the invoice. For longer, or ongoing services, a payment schedule will be determined on a project-by-project basis.
